UPY is the world’s most important underwater photography contest. British photographer, Phil Smith was the first Underwater Photographer of the Year, named in 1965. Today, the modern UPY continues that tradition into its 60th year. This fully international competition attracts entries from all continents, with the results promoted by the mainstream media around the world.
